Consumer spending on sports betting in New York fell slightly year-on-year during January, while revenue slipped to its lowest monthly total since October 2025.
Total handle for the month stood at $2.44 billion, according to the New York State Gaming Commission. This was 1.5% behind January last year but 2.6% ahead of December 2025.
Gross gaming revenue from sports betting topped $250.6 million, which was 1.5% more than January 2025 despite a lower handle. However, the monthly revenue total fell 3.5% short of December’s $259.7 million haul.
As such, this left New York with a statewide hold of 10.24% for the month.
FanDuel fails to improve on near-record December
As has been the case for some time, Flutter Entertainment’s FanDuel again took top spot in the market. Posting $113.7 million in revenue, this was an improvement on last year but fell short of December, when it saw revenue hit $120.1 million – its second-highest total on record in New York.
Having processed $875.3 million in wagers, this meant a monthly hold of 12.99%.
DraftKings remained the closest challenger, reporting $79.7 million in revenue off a handle of $818.3 million. This resulted in a hold of 9.74%.
Fanatics remained third with $21.5 million from $223.3 million for a 9.63% hold. This was despite BetMGM taking more bets ($242.4 million) but reporting less revenue at $13.4 million, leaving a 5.53% hold.
Elsewhere, Caesars drew $11.5 million in revenue from $160.7 million in bets for a 7.16% hold. Rush Street Interactive followed with $4.8 million off $52.2 million, meaning a 9.2% hold. Narrowly behind was theScore Bet on $4.3 million from $54.1 million, resulting in a hold of 7.95%.
BallyBet took $1.7 million in revenue off a $17.3 million handle for a 9.83% hold. Finally, Resorts World Bet posted $229,357 off $2.8 million, leaving an 8.33% hold for January.
