In its latest article, iGaming provider Platipus Gaming shared an interview with its HR Director, Marina Korchovna, to discover how human capital management is being redefined in this industry and how the company is crafting a culture where innovation, diversity, and well-being converge.
In a fast-changing and competitive iGaming world, talents truly make the difference. At Platipus Gaming, the company’s success is built on a core belief that people are its core value and greatest asset.
Whether you’re an industry professional, HR enthusiast, or someone aiming to break into iGaming, this insightful interview provides a behind-the-scenes look at what it means to prioritize people while achieving rapid success.
Can you share your journey in HR and what led you to the iGaming industry?
Starting from my childhood, I have always loved creating something new and communicating with different personalities. That’s why HR became the perfect choice for me, where these two passions are combined. I approach HR as human capital rather than a resource.
People are key players who drive the company’s success. The opportunity to apply my experience in human capital management in such a creative and dynamic industry as iGaming has become a real inspiration for me.
What are the most fascinating things about iGaming?
I am captivated by the dynamics and opportunities that the iGaming industry offers. What truly fascinates me is the ability to move in multiple directions simultaneously, all while staying focused on delivering a top-quality product.
The achievements of Platipus’ Team strengthen my motivation. Over the past three years, we have:
- tripled the release of game slots;
- added instant win games to our portfolio;
- increased the monthly releases of table games fourfold;
- and, most importantly, expanded our staff four times over.
Today, the company releases 3-4 games every month with a team of over 100 talented employees and contractors across Europe, North America, LATAM, and Asia.
I truly believe that the future of iGaming belongs to those who can bring together speed, dedication and creativity. That’s why I am proud to be a part of Platipus Gaming.
What are the biggest challenges you are currently facing?
Today, one of the biggest challenges in HR is dealing with external factors. Global instability, economic, and social changes directly impact companies’ HR strategies. HR professionals should consider not only internal processes but also the broader context.
Despite these challenges, Platipus remains a stable and rapidly growing company that successfully adapts to changes and maintains efficiency in hiring, developing, and retaining the team.
How do you attract top talent from different countries? What are the job opportunities for expats?
We achieve this quite effortlessly thanks to our flexible work format and global structure. Platipus has representatives in various countries, and most of our teams work remotely, enabling us to create a truly multicultural environment. We provide competitive benefits, stability, outstanding leadership, and, most importantly, a sense of security and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
This approach allows us to attract and retain top talent worldwide.
At Platipus, everyone has the opportunity to work on a global scale, grow professionally, and make contributions to product creation used by millions of people around the world.
How is Platipus currently developing, and which new markets is the company expanding into?
Platipus is currently expanding its presence in the Asian market, which is one of the key focuses of our strategic development. The Asian market holds enormous potential but also comes with such challenges as cultural differences, specific business approaches, and a high level of competition.
One of our main challenges today is hiring professionals (Platipus Ltd.), for instance, Sales Managers who are proficient in Chinese. This skill is rather crucial for conducting negotiations effectively and understanding the local context.
Despite these difficulties, we successfully attract highly qualified specialists thanks to:
- corporate culture;
- flexible working hours;
- competitive environment for talent’ development.
Platipus continues its expansion into new regions, bringing its core values like dedication, transparency, and team building.
How does the recruitment process differ between LATAM and Europe?
Yes, there are significant differences between regions. If we speak about LATAM countries, we often take a more informal approach to interviews, reflecting the warm, open, and genuine atmosphere of the region. Typically, the first 30 minutes of the conversation are dedicated to getting to know the candidate as a person, learning about their life priorities, values, and sometimes even their hobbies.
Here, sincerity and openness in communication are highly appreciated. Kindness is essential, both in the company’s approach and in management style. Volunteer experience and social initiatives are also appreciated. Additionally, the company’s values, the team atmosphere, and the corporate culture play a significant role in shaping a positive and supportive work environment.
In Europe, however, the hiring process tends to be more structured and formalized, with greater emphasis on professional experience, case studies, and evaluating hard skills. Understanding these differences helps us build a genuine bridge of trust between the company and teams across the world.
Which strategies are applied for employee’ retention? Can you share some secrets?
Of course, I can’t reveal all the secrets. What if Platipus’ competitors are now reading this article? But if we take it seriously, I don’t focus solely on employee retention rates. For me, the key priorities are employee loyalty and engagement, as these directly impact team productivity. And as a result, turnover naturally decreases.
My strategy is to create an environment where people genuinely want to stay because they find the work engaging, the atmosphere comfortable, and being part of the team meaningful.
We conduct HR surveys regularly, and I’d like to share some data from the survey at the beginning of 2025:
- 87% highlighted an enjoyable work environment;
- 82,5% appreciated the positive team atmosphere;
- 81,6% are satisfied with their salary levels;
- 76% value the company’s stability;
- 75,4% see opportunities for growth.

Our eNPS (Employee Net Promoter Score) has never dropped below 50%, and in our latest survey, it reached 72%, which is an exceptionally strong result.
Here are some key insights about Platipus’ team:
- The average employee’s age is 33 years;
- The average tenure of the company is 4 years;
- 35% of our team members are women, and we take great pride in this diversity.
I approach it not like “retention” but rather as creating an environment where people genuinely want to stay.
New game development may cause stress due to strict deadlines. How does the company ensure a balance between work and personal life?
At Platipus, the importance of work-life balance was incorporated in Platipus’ DNA from the very beginning. One of our key tools is structured games release planning, which is currently scheduled almost a year in advance. This helps us avoid chaotic deadlines and excessive workloads. Supporting this approach are:
- effective and efficient management;
- well-established processes;
- skilled professionals who excel in their roles.
Over the past three years, our focus has shifted beyond just maintaining balance, we’re actively shaping a culture of well-being.
What are the biggest challenges in maintaining collaboration between teams in a remote or hybrid work environment?
It is rather important for us that everyone stays informed and aligned. That’s why we launched Platipus NEWS, monthly departmental meetings, and quarterly gatherings of all company leaders. Additionally, every quarter, employees have the opportunity to ask senior management questions live.
How does the company facilitate employee training and development?
We have implemented a Personal Development Plan and offer internal courses to improve business and technical English. Employees also have access to Udemy Business, and each month, we curate a selection of valuable webinars on various topics. Additionally, we have internal training programs focused on leadership, effective communication, management, and many other essential skills
After this interview, you might picture an ideal company — but why not see for yourself by sending us your resume and joining the great Platipus team?
