The Canadian Gaming Summit 2025 will convene industry professionals this month in Toronto to address advancements in payments and regulatory oversight.

A dedicated Payments & Compliance track, scheduled for Thursday, June 19, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, will offer practical insights into transaction processes, compliance requirements, and the integration of new technologies.

The sessions within this track will cover subjects ranging from anti-money laundering (AML) audits to digital wallets, cryptocurrencies, and prediction markets. The objective is to provide delegates with actionable insights on managing compliance while improving the player experience.

Rasmus Sojmark, Founder and CEO of SBC, said: “Payments and compliance might not always grab the headlines, but they underpin everything in this industry—from a customer’s experience to regulatory viability. This track is about showing how innovation and integrity can go hand in hand

The program initiates with the “Payment Leaders Panel: Tech in 2025.” This session will feature industry figures in payments technology, discussing how the sector can reconcile established payment methods with the evolving digital environment.

Participants include Sereena Boparai, chief revenue officer for Paramount Commerce; Vanessa Hartwick, senior manager of business development for Interac; Dan Evans, chief financial officer for Betty; and Daniel Whiteley, chief technology officer for Bede Gaming. The discussion will focus on strategies for introducing new tools to cultivate player loyalty and ensure accessibility for all customers.

A subsequent session, “AML: Collective Action,” will examine the necessity of updating Canada’s anti-money laundering framework in advance of the Financial Action Task Force review in November. Experts will include Kevin de Bruyckere, director of AML & Investigations at BCLC; Dave Foppert, vice president and AML Officer at DraftKings; Rebecca Ip, partner at KPMG; Mondiu Jaiyesimi, AML Regulatory Compliance & Forensics at MNP; Scott Hutchinson, partner at Henein Hutchison Robitaille LLP; and Dr. Ian Messenger, CEO and founder of ACGCS.

The Payments & Compliance track is one component of the Canadian Gaming Summit’s content offerings. Other focused streams include Sports Betting & Casino, Cybersecurity, Affiliates & Advertising, Leaders, and the Player Protection Symposium.
