Training sessions conducted across every MGM Resorts property in the US have resulted in more than 2,000 employees receiving GameSense Advisor certification, covering casino operations, entertainment venues, and non-gaming assets. This marks a major milestone within the company’s responsible gaming program, MGM said.

The certified employees include frontline staff and executives representing more than 30 departments. Training sessions were conducted at all US-based MGM Resorts properties and extended to non-gaming venues operated by the company, including Shadow Creek Golf Course and T-Mobile Arena. A recent session held at MGM Grand in Las Vegas helped reach the overall total.

The training provided research-based instruction on responsible gaming practices, with a focus on guest engagement and addressing potential problem gambling concerns through established procedures.

“Our investment in GameSense ensures an approach where responsibility is woven into the heart of the MGM Resorts brand,” said Stephen Martino, SVP & Chief Compliance Officer, MGM Resorts. “With GameSense at the center, we’re empowering employees to play an important role in promoting responsible gaming awareness and enjoyable experiences for our guests.”

GameSense was developed by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation and licensed to MGM Resorts in 2017. The program is designed around direct and transparent interactions with guests regarding responsible gambling. BetMGM has also adopted the GameSense program.

GameSense Advisors are trained to support player education for guests and employees. Their responsibilities include recognizing behaviors associated with gambling risk, escalating concerns when appropriate, and directing individuals to local support services.

Training also references tools available to guests, including BetBlocker, a free and fully anonymous gambling-blocking software that restricts access to legal and illegal gambling websites and mobile applications.

“This accomplishment is made possible by leadership and team members who genuinely want to make a difference,” said Garrett Farnes, Executive Director of Responsible Gaming, MGM Resorts. “We’re committed to a culture of responsibility that turns every interaction into an opportunity to build trust and provide a level of hospitality that truly matters.”

MGM Resorts continues to support responsible gaming programs led by the American Gaming Association (AGA), including Play Smart from the Start and the Have A Game Plan. Bet Responsibly. public-service campaign. These initiatives provide educational resources for new and experienced sports bettors and promote participation through licensed operators in regulated markets.

“Through initiatives like GameSense, MGM Resorts continues to set a standard that makes responsible gaming an everyday expectation,” said David Forman, VP of Research, AGA. “As the industry continues to expand, it’s well-trained employees who are positioned to drive these important messages forward.”
