Boyd Gaming is selling its Sam’s Town Hotel & Casino in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Bally’s for an undisclosed amount. The property boasts a 29,000-square-foot gaming floor with 750 slots and 14 table games, along with a hotel encompassing 514 rooms. Sam’s Town is located directly adjacent to Bally’s Shreveport Casino & Hotel.
The companies announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement for the transaction. The deal is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions and required regulatory approvals.
Sam’s Town Shreveport, located in downtown Shreveport, also includes multiple restaurants, a live entertainment venue, and convention and meeting space. The property has been part of Boyd Gaming’s portfolio since 2004.
Soo Kim, executive chairman of Bally’s, said: “As an existing operator in Shreveport, we know this market well and understand what makes it special – from its loyal customer base to its important role in the region’s broader gaming and entertainment landscape. The acquisition of Sam’s Town Shreveport reflects our confidence in the community and our long-term commitment to growing our presence here.”
Kim said the company sees “meaningful opportunities” to reinvest in the market and further strengthen Shreveport’s position as a destination for gaming and entertainment. Bally’s will share more details about its broader vision and plans for the property and the market “in the near future,” according to his statement.
With the addition of Sam’s Town Shreveport, Bally’s domestic casino portfolio will total 19 properties across 11 states.
The Rhode Island-based operator holds rights to the developable land where Tropicana Las Vegas once stood, with a portion of the site being used for construction of the A’s baseball stadium. Bally’s is also constructing a casino in Chicago and recently received a New York gaming license for a proposed casino in the Bronx.
Meanwhile, Boyd Gaming described the sale within the context of its operating strategy.
“The sale of our Sam’s Town Shreveport property is consistent with our continued focus on refining our operating model and our nationwide property portfolio,” Keith Smith, president and chief executive officer of Boyd Gaming, said in a statement. “Sam’s Town Shreveport has been a part of our company since 2004, and we appreciate all of the contributions of its team members, past and present, in providing great service to our guests throughout the last two decades.”
Boyd, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2025, completed several transactions last year. In March, the company acquired Resorts Digital, the online gaming arm of Atlantic City’s Resorts Casino Hotel. In July, Boyd sold its 5% stake in Flutter Entertainment plc, the parent company of FanDuel Group, for $1.75 billion.
The company also plans to open Cadence Crossing in Henderson next month, its first newly built casino in more than 20 years.
