Boyd Gaming Corp. will open Cadence Crossing, its new neighborhood casino on Boulder Highway in Henderson, on March 25.
The property will open to the public at noon following a 10 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Henderson city officials and Boyd executives.
Cadence Crossing replaces the Joker’s Wild casino at the same site and represents Boyd’s first ground-up development project in more than 20 years.
The 50,000-square-foot project includes a 10,000-square-foot casino floor with more than 450 slot machines, about double the number previously offered at Joker’s Wild. The property will also feature two restaurants, a center bar, and a lounge.
Boyd broke ground on the development on April 3 last year. Boyd executives previously said the casino would open in late March, but the specific opening date had not been publicly announced until now.
Development tied to Cadence community growth
The development timeline for Cadence Crossing will move alongside the expansion of the nearby Cadence master-planned community.
The company has also indicated plans to eventually add a hotel to the property, although the number of rooms and a construction timeline have not been disclosed.
During an earnings call on February 5, Boyd President and CEO Keith Smith discussed the residential growth surrounding the project.
“The adjacent community of Cadence has more than 1,200 new homes sold in 2025 alone,” Smith told investors at the time. “This is the third-best sales performance of any master-planned community in the country. Strong residential growth is continuing throughout the neighborhood. We believe Cadence Crossing Casino will be well-positioned to deliver a strong return on our investment.”
Part of wider development activity along Boulder Highway
Henderson Mayor Michelle Romero previously said the project aligns with other development activity in the area, including a $170 million highway improvement project covering 7½ miles of Boulder Highway near the casino site.
Cadence Crossing will join Boyd’s existing operations in the corridor, including Sam’s Town, located about 7 miles away.
The company recentlydemolished the Eastside Cannery hotel-casino property, which had remained closed since the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. Boyd said it did not see sufficient market demand to reopen the property and intends to sell the site for residential development.
