Betty Gaming has acquired Kirkland Lake Bingo Hall in northern Ontario as it expands into online bingo, a move that places the company within the province’s regulated charitable bingo framework and marks a further step in its diversification strategy.

The acquisition allows the operator to launch an iBingo offering in Ontario while linking its gaming activities to charitable funding within the local community. Kirkland Lake Bingo Hall, which has operated since 1998, will continue to run under its existing name following the transaction, which closed in late 2025. The facility currently employs four staff members, all of whom will remain in their roles.

Owning the hall provides Betty with a pathway to participate in Ontario’s regulated charitable bingo system, under which a portion of gaming proceeds supports community organizations. As noted by the company, part of its iGaming revenue generated in Ontario will be directed toward charitable funding that benefits organizations in health, youth, service, and recreational sectors.

“This acquisition is a strategic step as we launch our iBingo offering in Ontario,” said Chavdar Dimitrov, CEO of Betty. “We’re excited to be innovating in a regulated space in a way that lets our growth translate into meaningful charitable funding for local communities.”

This is a long-term investment in the Kirkland Lake community. It’s about keeping a community institution open, supporting local charities, and making sure bingo remains relevant and accessible for the next generation of players.”

Kirkland Lake Bingo Hall has long served as a social gathering place in the region. By acquiring the facility, Betty said it plans to maintain its role within the community while also investing in improvements to the site. In a statement, the company committed to upgrading both technology and physical facilities associated with the bingo operation.

The move represents an expansion beyond the company’s original focus when it entered Ontario’s regulated iGaming market in 2023 as an online casino platform targeting female gamblers. In 2024, management indicated that its approach would shift toward maintaining a focus on women players while not excluding men, noting that its customer base had reached an even gender split of 50-50.

Betty has also expressed interest in further geographic expansion. The operator is among several companies expected to pursue entry into Alberta’s forthcoming regulated iGaming market when it launches later this year, with the provincial framework anticipated to go live in the spring or summer.

The introduction of an online bingo product places Betty among a small group of operators offering peer-to-peer bingo within Ontario’s regulated market. According to a spokesperson for iGaming Ontario, the organization responsible for conducting and managing the province’s igaming activities, Betty becomes the third operator in Ontario to provide peer-to-peer online bingo.

Peer-to-peer bingo activity is currently included within the online casino category in iGaming Ontario’s monthly market performance reports. The latest figures indicate that online casino products accounted for 77% of the market based on non-adjusted gross gaming revenue. In January, that segment generated $308.9 million in revenue.
