The Florida Senate has officially confirmed the appointments and reappointments of all five members of the Florida Gaming Control Commission (FGCC), completing the full composition of the Commission’s governing body.

On January 9, Governor Ron DeSantis appointed Julie Brown as Chair of the Commission, named Peter Cuderman and William Spicola as commissioners, and reappointed John Michael D’Aquila and Tina Repp to continue their service.

The FGCC oversees all gambling and horse racing activities in Florida—excluding the state lottery—including pari-mutuel wagering, cardrooms, and slot machine operations throughout the state. Commissioners exercise both regulatory and executive authority in these areas.

Brown expressed gratitude to Governor DeSantis and the Florida Senate for the opportunity to continue serving. “I am proud of the work we have done since FGCC’s inception to combat illegal gambling, which has grown to become increasingly predatory on Florida’s most vulnerable populations,” Brown said.

Brown currently serves as Chair of the Florida Gaming Control Commission after previously serving as Vice Chair for more than two years and as the Inaugural Chair. She earlier served as the Secretary of the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation and was both Chair and Commissioner of the Florida Public Service Commission for over a decade.

“The industry continues to evolve in ways that will challenge us, but our team is adaptive, skilled, and ready for the challenges ahead,” she added. “We have a great group of dedicated commissioners who are working hard to strongly regulate legal gambling, while also protecting Floridians from illegal gambling.”

Repp previously served as a Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, while D’Aquila is the Owner and Certified Public Accountant of D’Aquila Advisors, LLC. Cuderman is the Founding Partner of Fidelis Fund, a Florida-based private equity firm investing in Main Street businesses, and Spicola is an Attorney at Komisar Spicola, P.A.
