Caesars Entertainment has expanded its integrated sportsbook and horse racing platform to Indiana and Illinois, allowing users in those states to place pari-mutuel horse racing bets directly through the Caesars Sportsbook app. The development brings the total number of participating states to seven, joining New York, Ohio, Maryland, Kentucky, and Colorado.
This expansion arrives just days before the 157th Belmont Stakes, set to take place Saturday at Saratoga Race Course. Through the Caesars Sportsbook app, users can now toggle seamlessly between sports wagering and horse racing, managing both activities through a single shared wallet. The system also links to Caesars Rewards, enabling users to earn Reward Credits and Tier Credits on every racing wager.
“Integrating pari-mutuel horse racing into the Caesars Sportsbook app is a significant milestone for both our digital business and the sport of horse racing,” said Dan Shapiro, Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer at Caesars Digital. “Our customers will be able to bet on horse racing, whether it’s the sport’s biggest events or daily races from tracks around the world.”
Tony Allevato, President of NYRA Bets, which powers the Caesars Racebook wagering interface, said the launch of shared wallet functionality gives Caesars’ customer base “premier racing content through a comprehensive and easy-to-access wagering menu.”
“Horse racing plays an important role in the betting marketplace, and we appreciate Caesars’ longstanding commitment to elevating the sport and growing fan engagement,” Allevato added.
The integration comes ahead of a high-profile showdown at the Belmont Stakes, where Preakness Stakes winner Journalism enters as the 8-5 morning line favorite from post position No. 7. Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty will run from post position No. 2 at 2-1 odds.
The eight-horse field also includes Hill Road, Rodriguez, Uncaged, Crudo, Baeza, and Heart of Honor. Post time for Saturday’s main event is 7:04 p.m. ET.
Caesars is a major player in both the sportsbook and horse racing sectors. It is the presenting sponsor of the National Horseplayers Championship and operates multiple tracks including Harrah’s Hoosier Park and Horseshoe Indianapolis. The company first introduced the integrated wagering experience in New York, and recently added Kentucky and Colorado in April.
