Club Fortune Casino North is set to open by mid-April in North Las Vegas, replacing the long-standing Poker Palace casino, which ceased operations in October 2025. The reopening comes after a comprehensive remodeling by new owner Truckee Gaming LLC, which acquired the property on October 1 for $20 million.
The Nevada Gaming Control Board on Wednesday recommended that the Nevada Gaming Commission approve Truckee Gaming’s licensing request to operate the revamped venue under the Club Fortune brand. The new casino will be the 11th in Truckee’s portfolio, which includes multiple properties across northern Nevada and the existing Club Fortune in Henderson.
Ferenc Szony, CEO of Truckee Gaming, confirmed that reconstruction of the interior is ongoing. “It was a total gut job on the interior, where we had to rip out part of the floor. We’re in the process of rebuilding,” Szony said, adding that the company’s intent is to reopen quickly and resume hiring. “If we can get it going with 80% of the things going, we would do that. That’s on how the construction gets finished.”
The revamped Club Fortune North will feature a Boomer’s Sportsbook, incorporating horse racing and sports betting into the operations. “It’s new for us to have horse betting operations,” Szony said. “Let’s see how it goes, and hopefully it will work well.”

The remodel includes both interior and exterior upgrades. Planned changes include new slot machines and gaming systems, an expanded restaurant and kitchen area, modernized restrooms, and a redesigned bar. The decision to exclude table games from the offering will reduce staffing from 125 to approximately 100 employees.
However, Szony noted that previous employees would receive preferred hiring and retain seniority.
Referring to the previous design of the property, Szony said: “It had the look that if Circus Circus and Excalibur had a baby, that was Poker Palace. It really needed a dramatic change. We gave it a far more contemporary look.”
Truckee Gaming intends to move slot machines between its properties and is seeking appropriate licensing to facilitate that process. Board Chair Mike Dreitzer questioned Szony on the company’s investment strategy in North Las Vegas.
Szony said the choice to acquire the property was strategic. “We’ve been looking for another property in the greater Las Vegas area for quite some time. This one hit because of where it’s at,” he said.
He cited the company’s experience in revitalizing aging properties, such as its Henderson location, as a model. “We’re pretty optimistic, which is why when you see what it is to become, it will be a credit to the community and that area that’s renovating itself.”
Poker Palace originally opened in 1974 on Las Vegas Boulevard North and previously offered table games and pari-mutuel racing.
