Bally’s Corporation announced Monday that its new land-based Bally’s Marquette casino in Iowa will open on Friday, March 13, replacing the former Casino Queen Marquette riverboat after a $26.2 million redevelopment.
The 31,280-square-foot casino features more than 400 slot machines and electronic table games, along with live dealer blackjack, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, and a sportsbook.
“The official transformation to Bally’s Marquette represents a defining moment for our team, guests, and the community,” said Robin Corbeil, General Manager. “With our move ashore complete, Bally’s Marquette delivers a modern gaming experience, expanded dining offerings, and a welcoming atmosphere that honors our riverfront roots while positioning us for the future.”
The transformation comes after private equity firm Standard General completed its $4.6 billion purchase of Bally’s Corp. in 2024, bringing Casino Queen Marquette under the Bally’s portfolio. Standard General had previously acquired Queen Casino & Entertainment, the company that owned the Marquette riverboat casino.
The new facility replaces the Mississippi River riverboat casino, which continued operating during construction. The riverboat will close once the land-based casino opens and will be sold.
The property also introduces several new food and beverage venues. The 1994 Sports Bar, named in tribute to the riverboat’s December 1994 debut, will serve pub-style dishes alongside multiple television screens for sports viewing. The Sidecar Bar will offer handcrafted cocktails in what the company describes as a “spirited lounge.” Additional options include Riverside Grill, which will provide fast-casual American meals, and Benchfront Coffee, serving specialty coffee drinks.
Bally’s said the inland transition has created nearly 80 new jobs and reinforces the company’s long-term commitment to regional tourism and economic development.
The grand opening on Friday will feature live music, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and other entertainment.
“Pinky,” the pink elephant statue that has stood near the Mississippi River for nearly two decades, will also remain at the property. The statue was relocated to the casino along Great River Road in 2009 after the nearby Pink Elephant Hotel & Supper Club was demolished.
Casino Queen Marquette generated $19.9 million in gross gaming revenue in 2025, the lowest among Iowa’s 19 casinos. By comparison, Prairie Meadows Racetrack & Casino led the state with more than $234.7 million. Statewide casino revenue in Iowa exceeded $1.67 billion last year, leaving Casino Queen Marquette with roughly a 1.2% market share.
