Aristocrat Technologies has advanced its carbon reduction strategy through a transition to 100% renewable energy for its Southern Nevada operations, which complements renewable energy contracts already in place for the company’s facilities in Australia.
The latest initiative covers its Summerlin North American headquarters and Las Vegas Integration Center in Henderson. Through participation in NV Energy’s GreenEnergy Rider program, Aristocrat has secured 4,954 megawatt-hours (MWh) of renewable electricity for the two sites. The allocation contributes to Nevada’s 34% renewable energy requirement.
Aristocrat also said it supplements its remaining electricity demand with additional renewable energy resources and renewable energy credits, allowing its Southern Nevada facilities to operate entirely on renewable energy.
“Reaching 100% renewable energy for our Southern Nevada operations is an important milestone in Aristocrat’s sustainability journey,” said Harry Ashton, Group General Manager of Sustainability for Aristocrat.
“By partnering with NV Energy through the GreenEnergy Rider program, we are able to accelerate our progress toward our carbon reduction goals while supporting the growth of renewable infrastructure in Nevada. This achievement reflects our commitment to operating responsibly globally and in the communities in which we operate and creating long-term value for our stakeholders,” he said.
Utility program supports renewable energy procurement
Aristocrat enrolled in NV Energy’s GreenEnergy Rider program, which allows participating companies to source renewable electricity while remaining on bundled utility service. Under the arrangement, the company pays a Renewable Resource Rate (RRR), which represents NV Energy’s cost to procure and dedicate renewable generation.
This structure allows it to pursue its sustainability objectives without independently purchasing electricity or leaving utility service.
NV Energy procures, manages, and delivers the renewable electricity used under the agreement. The utility also tracks and retires all renewable energy credits (RECs) associated with Aristocrat’s participation, ensuring the environmental attributes are assigned exclusively to the company’s electricity use.
“Our goal is to provide clean energy programs to the community while also strengthening our Renewable Portfolio goals,” said NV Energy Program Development Director Jared Bilberry. “Ultimately, programs like the GreenEnergy Rider give companies like Aristocrat the ability to achieve 100% renewable energy, while we continue to invest in and grow Nevada’s clean energy future.”
One of four participating companies
Aristocrat is one of four companies participating in the GreenEnergy Rider program in Nevada in 2026. The company is also the only slot machine manufacturer enrolled in the program and the only participant based in Southern Nevada.
According to Aristocrat, early enrollment allowed it to secure renewable energy during a period of increasing demand driven in part by artificial intelligence and data centers.
NV Energy provides energy services to more than 1.5 million customers across Nevada and serves a typical annual tourist population of 54 million.
