MERKUR Slots has advanced its £5 million ($6.7 million) UK investment program with the opening of two new entertainment centers in London and Leigh. The company invested £400,000 ($536,000) in each venue and plans additional openings across the country.
The new locations on Whitechapel Road in London and Bradshawgate in Leigh form part of the company’s ongoing investment strategy for UK high street locations. According to MERKUR Slots, each venue features digital slot machines and bingo games, offering a selection of classic titles alongside newer releases.
“We’re delighted to officially open our new venues and create 20 new job opportunities for the local community. Investment in new venues remains a major focus for us, and this latest opening reflects our continued confidence in high street locations across the UK,” said Mark Schertle, Chief Operating Officer at MERKUR Casino UK, the parent company of MERKUR Slots.
The two new entertainment centers are expected to create 20 jobs, with an average of 10 positions at each site.
“Every new venue we open creates an average of 10 jobs and, over the past 12 months alone, we have supported more than 600 roles nationwide through new venue openings and continued investment in our existing locations,” said Schertle.
“We’re incredibly proud of the finished venues and look forward to welcoming customers through the doors in the weeks ahead,” he added.
Alongside its venue investment program, the company continues to run MERKUR Community, an initiative launched in January 2024 to support nonprofit organizations, clubs and events in communities where it operates. The program works with local groups to identify opportunities that can make a positive impact on local residents.
MERKUR Community receives funding from the company together with voluntary customer donations collected across its UK venues. Since its launch in 2024, the initiative has distributed £308,131.47 ($412,896.17) to 194 groups, including 3 corporate partnerships.
