iGaming content provider BGaming has launched Yokai, the first title in its new ART Collab series, created in partnership with Portuguese street artist Gonçalo MAR.
The ART Collab series brings together street artists from around the world to develop slot games inspired by their artistic styles. Yokai is BGaming’s third collaboration with MAR and the first to result in a full game.
The collaboration began after BGaming discovered MAR’s artwork at an exhibition in Lisbon. Since then, the two have worked together on multiple initiatives, including BGaming’s Charity Gala, where one of the artist’s works was auctioned to support the DAR Bjorn neurological home in Malta.
For Yokai, Gonçalo MAR was responsible for the game’s visual design, artwork, and narrative, with BGaming’s development team bringing his creative vision to life. The slot incorporates several references to MAR’s portfolio, including his signature “Turista” finger-fish character, which appears as both a symbol on the reels and the head of the game’s main protagonist.
Yokai features a Samurai character in an ancient Japanese forest near Mount Fuji. The Samurai stands guard alongside the Yokai, the fortune-bearing spirits of the woods, and watches at the side of the reels, bursting to life at various points during the game, slicing the reels and triggering the bonus round.
The Yokai spirits appear and vanish across the board during key moments to enhance its visual experience, making it a title suited for live-streaming sessions.
In terms of gameplay, Yokai features two types of Wild symbols, cumulative multipliers, and a Free Spins bonus round that awards a random number of spins with each trigger. The slot offers a maximum win potential of up to 8,000x the player’s stake and has a return-to-player (RTP) rate of 97%.
The slot also includes two Buy features: Buy Chance, which increases the likelihood of triggering the bonus round, and Buy Bonus, which provides instant access to the Free Spins feature.
