iGaming solutions provider Slotegrator has launched a Progressive Web Application (PWA) feature for its Casino Builder platform, allowing online casino operators to offer an app-like mobile experience without publishing through the Apple App Store or Google Play.
The update is designed to address distribution challenges faced by iGaming operators, including strict app marketplace policies, lengthy review processes, regional restrictions, and the risk of app removal. With the new functionality, players can install a casino application directly from their mobile browser and access it from their device’s home screen.
“Mobile is still the leading channel for user acquisition and retention; however, it’s difficult to distribute native apps in iGaming,” said Olga Ivanchik, COO at Slotegrator. “Our new PWA feature gives operators an alternative that will be familiar to their players, while eliminating the complications related to conventional app stores.”
“Operators can launch quickly, retain full control over updates, and ensure a perfect mobile gaming experience for any market,” she added.
Additional capabilities will also be introduced within the next two months, including controls that allow operators to control when the PWA installation prompt appears, such as after a player’s first deposit, and configure how frequently installation offers are displayed as part of customer retention strategies.
The PWA also includes customizable installation widgets that can be configured as a top bar or top banner. Operators can personalize these with branded icons, messaging, and backgrounds while targeting campaigns by device type, including desktop, mobile, Android, and iOS.
When players install the PWA, operators can connect it to push notification services, so they can re-engage them even when the application isn’t actively open.
Slotegrator said the new functionality also supports mirror domains, allowing players who have already installed the PWA to continue using the application even if an operator changes domains due to licensing or regulatory requirements, without requiring reinstallation.
Unlike native mobile applications, PWAs do not require approval from the App Store or Google Play, enabling operators to roll out updates immediately without the risk of marketplace delays or removal.
