Online casino and sportsbook BetRivers has set a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the world’s largest slot machine to mark its launch in Alberta.

The slot machine, which stands 4.88 metres (16 feet) tall, was unveiled at West Edmonton Mall. The record-breaking installation took four weeks to build and was officially recognised by GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS adjudicator Tina Shi during a launch event hosted by BetRivers brand ambassador and Canadian broadcaster Dan O’Toole.

Rush Street Interactive CEO Richard Schwartz said the record marks the company’s entry into Alberta and reflects BetRivers’ focus on online casino gaming.

“This new record is a great representation of BetRivers’ focus on being the ultimate online casino destination for Alberta gaming enthusiasts,” said Schwartz. “Canada is an important market for BetRivers, and we are thrilled to be operating in the province. Our focus on entertainment and our slots-first approach have really resonated with players, and we wanted to bring that to new heights in Alberta.”

To coincide with the launch, BetRivers has transformed part of West Edmonton Mall into a gold rush-themed activation featuring interactive experiences and prizes. Visitors aged 18 and above can pan for gold or play the world’s largest slot machine for a chance to win a gold bar worth C$6,000 (US$4,259). The activation will run until the end of December.

Following its Alberta debut, BetRivers said it plans to bring the world’s largest slot machine experience to other casino markets across North America.

“Entertainment is infused into everything we do, and this record and activation are the latest examples of that,” said Brian Sapp, CMO at Rush Street Interactive. “Whether you are taking the world’s largest slot machine for a spin or interacting with the exclusive slot titles on our platform, we focus on making every moment entertaining and rewarding.”

BetRivers’ Alberta launch is supported by a multi-channel marketing campaign featuring Dan O’Toole, with advertising across television, out-of-home, digital, radio, sponsored content, and influencer partnerships. The company said the campaign introduces the brand to Alberta players with a western-themed concept aligned with its focus on online casino gaming.
