Robinhood Markets is expanding its prediction markets business through a partnership with Crypto.com and its newly independent derivatives platform OG.com, adding another venue for its growing event-contract operation.
Under the agreement, Robinhood will route a portion of its football prediction contracts to OG.com’s derivatives exchange and clearinghouse, which is regulated by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The first contracts are expected to go live ahead of the new U.S. professional football season.
OG.com will join Kalshi, ForecastEX and Rothera as venues handling Robinhood’s event contracts. Contracts will be routed among the exchanges based on factors including availability, Robinhood said.
“Routing event contracts to multiple venues helps create a stronger, more diverse and resilient marketplace,” said JB Mackenzie, Vice President and General Manager of futures and prediction markets at Robinhood.
As part of the partnership, Robinhood will receive equity stakes in both Crypto.com and OG.com. The stakes will be priced in line with Citadel Securities’ recent investment in Crypto.com Group, which valued the company at $20 billion. The deal also values OG.com at $5 billion following its planned spin-off as an independent trading platform.
The partnership comes as prediction markets become an increasingly important part of Robinhood’s business. Customers traded a record 13.6 billion event contracts in the second quarter, generating a record $156 million in revenue from the products.
More than 5 billion contracts changed hands during the FIFA World Cup alone, while customers have traded more than 45 billion prediction-market contracts since the business launched about two years ago. More than 30 billion contracts were traded through August this year.
Robinhood is also expanding its prediction-market products, adding live data and a dedicated hub for football contracts. The company is preparing a separate hub for the 2026 U.S. midterm elections, covering state and federal races, with some contracts potentially routed to Crypto.com and OG.com.
Prediction markets offer “yes” or “no” contracts on the outcomes of sports, political and economic events. Supporters argue that the markets capture the “wisdom of crowds”, while critics have likened them to gambling. Regulators have also increased scrutiny of the products, including concerns over potential insider trading.
The markets gained mainstream attention during the 2024 U.S. presidential election and have attracted strong demand around major sporting events.
Robinhood’s expansion into prediction markets comes alongside increased activity elsewhere in its digital asset business. Robinhood Chain recently recorded a record $1.33 billion in 24-hour decentralized exchange volume, driven largely by renewed retail speculation in meme coins and growing interest in tokenized assets.
