The appointment has been approved by the AGA board and Rumbolz will begin his new role in January. He will serve a two-year term, succeeding Hard Rock International chairman and Seminole Gaming CEO Jim Allen.

Rumbolz brings a wealth of experience to the role at AGA, having worked in and around the gambling industry since the mid-1980s.

Currently chairman of Everi, Rumbolz previously led the business as CEO. Rumbolz has also served on the board of managers at Seminole Hard Rock Holdings since March 2008 and is on the board at Vici Properties.

Other industry roles have included independent chair of Affinity Gaming, president and CEO of Anchor Gaming and chairman of the Nevada State Gaming Control Board. Rumbolz also spent time in the finance sector, working at Cash Systems, Global Cash Access and Poydras Gaming Finance Corp.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to help shape gaming’s future as the AGA’s next chair,” Rumbolz said. “From stopping illegal gambling to evolving responsible gambling, the AGA is tackling transformational issues and I am eager to build on the progress made during Jim’s tenure.”

AGA president and CEO Bill Miller added: “It’s an honour to welcome Mike – an industry legend in his own right – as the next AGA chairman. Mike’s career as an operator, manufacturer and regulator is unparalleled and will be vital to driving meaningful progress on industry priorities.”

Miller also paid tribute to the outgoing Allen.

“Jim’s knowledge, insight and guidance have helped the AGA advance our mission and maximise our impact for the industry. He’s been a trusted advisor to me and I am thankful for his partnership over the last two years.”

AGA also welcomes former Washington Commanders VP Maloney

The appointment of Rumbolz is the second major announcement from AGA this week. The organisation also welcomed Joe Maloney, previously of National Football League team the Washington Commanders, to its executive team.

Maloney joins AGA as senior vice-president of strategic communications. He will oversee all communications, research, marketing and public affairs campaigns for the organisation.

Taking on the role from January 2024, Maloney joins AGA from the Commanders. He had served as the team’s vice-president of public affairs and strategic communications since December 2020.
