Handle for August amounted to $28.2m (£24.1m/€27.7m), up 59.3% from $17.7m in the same month of 2021, but 1.1% lower than the $28.5m brought in in July this year.

Gross gaming revenue for the month reached $2.7m, which was 145.5% higher than $1.1m in August 2021 and level with the $2.7m generated in July of this year.

All revenue was generated by DraftKings, with Scoreboard reporting a loss of $1,206. The Oregon Lottery’s Scoreboard online sportsbook has been phased out and replaced by DraftKings, but still pays out on bets placed before this process began, meaning small negative revenue totals are expected.

Baseball remained by far the most popular sport among consumers, with a total of $13.9m bet on the sport during the month, all of which was wagered through DraftKings, leading to $1.5m in revenue.

DraftKings also took $4.1m in wagers on soccer, with revenue from this reaching $386,559, while players also bet $2.8m on tennis with DraftKings, resulting in $265,324 in revenue.

In terms of bet types, DraftKings took $21.0m in single and teaser bets and $8.0m worth of parlay bets. For Scoreboard, $59 worth of single and teaser bets were placed, as well as $10 in parlay wagers.
