Resort World said that Young mutually agreed with the board to leave his position at the business on 30 June. The University of Cambridge graduate was first appointed to the role in January.

“RWS remains committed to the momentum to strengthen its core leadership team, advance on its long-term growth strategies and build strong sustainable recovery,” Genting Singapore said.

The Resort World complex is operated by a subsidiary of Genting Singapore, an integrated resort developer and operator listed on the Singapore Exchange.

Young is a prominent member of the Singapore business community. After university, he spent 24 years in the city state’s civil service. Young worked in a number of roles in the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

Following his exit from government, Young served as chief executive officer of trade association the Singapore Business Federation, a role which he left in 2022.

Genting Singapore recorded a net profit of S$340.1m (£207.8m/€236.4m/US$255.9m), an 86% year-on-year increase in 2022.

Last year, Genting applied for a ten year Macau casino licence. In November that year, gaming authorities in the special administrative region opted to renew the licences of existing six concessionaires, and therefore not grant Genting authorisation to operate.
