GM Resorts employees are be required to provide proof of vaccination, or begin getting weekly Covid-19 tests which they have to pay for.

This policy was enforced on July 26, 2021. Employees are required to upload a photo of their vaccine card or begin paying a $15 co-pay for weekly tests on properties.

As this measure was confirmed to 8 News Now Tuesday night by Brian Ahern, MGM spokesman, Covid-19 testing will transition to ‘an ongoing cadence and any Las Vegas employee who is not designated in Workday as “Home Office” for their location and does not have a vaccine verification sticker will be required to participate’.

According to Ahern, employees also have the option to get a PCR test somewhere else and bring the results to work, or upload them to My MGM.

The plan, according to the company, is to divide last names into four testing groups, which are assigned a specific week for testing and validation, and will be notified of their time frame through Workday, My MGM, LEO and SHOWcase.

MGM says employees who test positive or have close contact with someone who tests positive will be notified and must quarantine. If an employee is not fully vaccinated, they will not be paid for that quarantine time.

MGM Resorts International operates these properties in Las Vegas: Bellagio, Aria Resort & Casino, Vdara, Excalibur, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, Delano Las Vegas, MGM Grand Las Vegas, MGM Grand Garden Arena, Skylofts at MGM Grand, The Mansion at MGM Grand, The Signature at MGM Grand, The Mirage, New York-New York, Park MGM.

The company operates more casinos across the United States and around the world. A recent estimate puts the number of worldwide employees at about 35,000: less than half the number employed before the pandemic.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board confirmed last week that Clark County’s mandate for employees to wear masks while in indoor spaces also will apply to all casinos, and that it will ensure its compliance.
