hrough the Ministry of Economy and Industry, Malta’s government and Dragonara Gaming Limited have signed a new 10-year casino concession agreement which will come into force August 1, 2021.

The agreement was final after an international Request For Proposals issued by the Privatisation Unit earlier this year to “open and operate a casino in Malta”.

Under this new concession, over the next 10 years, Dragonara Gaming Limited will invest a total of 10 million euros in technology, system and equipment.

The company has been operating the Dragonara Casino since June 2010, after it won another international call for tenders issued in 2009 and obtained the license to operate the casino from the Malta Gaming Authority. Malta currently has four licensed casinos: the Dragonara Casino, Portomaso Casino, Casino Malta and the Oracle Casino.

As reported by Malta Today, Johann Schembri, Dragonara Gaming Limited’s CEO spoke about this new agreement and the future of the gaming industry in the country.

“The next years will witness the development and restoration of the Dragonara Palace and its adjoining grounds, and the introduction of new entertainment concepts, to complement the casino operations while leveraging the true potential of the Dragonara peninsula”, he said.
