portnco enters Greece’s online betting and gaming market following the migration of NetBet.gr Sportsbook, the Greek-focused brand of NetBet Enterprises, announced the company August 17. The Greek brand of NetBet had been granted Type 1 & Type 2 Online Gaming Licenses in the country by the Hellenic Gaming Commission.

Following a regulatory transition, Greece will see its new iGaming legislation coming into force this summer, allowing licensed operators to offer online sports betting and gaming, including casino and poker. Sportnco received a supplier’s type license from the HGC to work in the country, and has a long-standing partnership with the NetBet Brand.

On the importance of the announcement, Hervé Schlosser, CEO and founder of Sportnco, said: “We are delighted to be expanding our relationship with NetBet and onboarding NetBet Enterprises on our portfolio of clients.”

Schlosser believes that the newly-regulated Greek market will enable Sportnco to “demonstrate its know-how for meeting complex IT and trading requirements”, as the supplier of turnkey betting and gaming solutions is once again excited to expand its international footprint.

“We are very happy to be working with Sportnco in Greece and look forward to developing this relationship thanks to focused service and customer management with our sportsbook providers,” added Gabriela Arnautu, CEO of NetBet Enterprises. “Greece is a great market for us and we look forward to continuing our growth there with Sportnco.”

The new Greek iGaming legislation is part of a wider package called “Invest in Greece”, and differentiates two types of licenses: one that allows to conduct online betting, and one to conduct other online games of chance. License holder must pay a 35% gross gaming revenue tax rate and run for seven-year terms.

Upon receiving both licenses in June, NetBet said in a press release: “The newly issued gaming licenses will allow NetBet to offer Greek players an unrivaled online gaming experience with thousands of sports markets each month, and more than four thousand titles on its casino.”
