ubo Gaming has been awarded a license to offer mobile event wagering in Arizona from the state’s Department of Gaming, announced the company on Thursday.

Subject to certain additional regulatory approvals, the Management Services Provider Certification from the Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) will allow the sports wagering subsidiary of TV streaming platform fuboTV to offer mobile betting in the state through a market access agreement with the Ak-Chin Indian Community.

The company describes the awarded license as an essential step in moving toward the launch of its mobile sportsbook, Fubo Sportsbook, which remains on track to go live in the fourth quarter 2021. Sports betting is set to go live in the state in Arizona on September 9, in time for the NFL season kickoff. The regulator has already granted sports betting licenses to 10 tribes and 8 sports teams.

“The license award in Arizona is an important strategic step as we aim to bring our integrated Fubo Sportsbook to the passionate sports fans of Arizona,” said Scott Butera, president, Fubo Gaming. “I’d like to thank our partners at the Ak-Chin Indian Community, who are leaders in the Arizona gaming community, for helping us achieve this milestone today.”

Arizona marks the company’s second state license, following recent approval in Iowa. “As we enter the mobile sports betting market, we couldn’t be more excited to kick off this journey in Iowa,” expressed the company via a statement last month.

Once launched, Fubo’s mobile sportsbook is set to enhance betting experience through the “Watching Now” feature, “an industry-first integration of sports wagering and live streaming” with fuboTV.

Fubo Sportsbook has been designed, according to a press release, as a “holistic, hyper-personalized betting experience” that reflects what users are watching on fuboTV, combining data from both the betting and streaming platforms to offer an improved service.

Leveraging fuboTV’s first-party user behavior data allows the company to better understand consumers’ viewing preferences and thus recommend relevant bets. By this, Fubo Sportsbook’s goal is to “turn passive viewers into active, engaged participants.”

“With the forthcoming launch of Fubo Sportsbook, we look forward to providing a seamless user experience that allows fans to wager while they watch their favorite sports,” added Butera. “We believe Fubo Sportsbook will add another exciting layer to the sports entertainment experience – one that will bring increased interaction and engagement between sports viewing and betting.”

In addition to its newly acquired license in Arizona and prior market access in Iowa, via an agreement with Casino Queen, Fubo Gaming has also entered market access agreements in Pennsylvania via The Cordish Companies as well as Indiana and New Jersey via Caesars Entertainment.
