T

he head of the Tourism Commission seeks to resume discussions on the matter, which in his opinion would accelerate the approval of the regulations and “boost the Brazilian economy, generating 700 thousand direct and indirect jobs.”

It should be noted that João Carlos Bacelar had previously held meetings with the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira, to put the public hearing on the agenda, as he assured that it is “the right time for it, given the serious economic crisis caused by the pandemic.”

“The government could start collecting large amounts of money in taxes, and some experts speculate with amounts of up to BRL $20,000 million (USD $3.78 million) in annual taxes. Another factor would be the attraction of international investors in the Brazilian market, which has huge potential”, the deputy said.

Present at the hearing will be Gustavo Guimarães (Secretary of Evaluation, Planning, Energy and Lottery of the Special Secretariat of Finance, SECAP), Bruno Omori (president of the Institute of Development, Tourism, Culture, Sports and Environment), Daniel Corrêa Homem de Carvalho (secretary of the Special Commission on the Law of Sports Betting, Lotteries and Shows – OAB Nacional), Raúl Lima Neto (president of the Brazilian Jockey Club), Regis de Oliveira (lawyer, former judge of the Court of Justice of São Paulo, and former federal deputy) and Magnho José (president of the Institute Brasileiro Jogo Legal, and editor of BNL Data).
