he Arizona Department of Gaming has granted Genius Sports a temporary sports betting license, announced the company on Wednesday. By having secured this permit, Genius Sports is authorized to power sportsbook partners across the state.

With the addition of Arizona, the sports data and technology provider is now authorized to operate in 16 U.S. states, where it offers its services to sportsbooks and lotteries, which also include streaming and marketing solutions.

The Temporary Event Wagering Supplier license follows the announcement last week of certification in Wyoming. “We are honored that the Arizona Department of Gaming has joined many other U.S. states in licensing Genius to help bring the highest quality sports betting platforms to the Grand Canyon state,” said Mark Locke, CEO of Genius Sports.

The state of Arizona is currently one of 23 U.S. states that have legalized sports betting. Authorization for wagering was announced back in April, and gaming in the state is set to launch this week, on Thursday, in time for the NFL kickoff.

“With each state that launches gaming operations, the North American market comes closer to realizing its enormous potential,” added Locke. “Our team is ready to get started in Arizona on day one and is excited to join our sportsbook partners in creating the most immersive, compelling fan experiences imaginable for the sports fans of Arizona.”

Genius partners BetMGM, DraftKings, and FanDuel have also received licenses to begin operating in the state upon the launch of gambling activities.

Wednesday saw more announcements by Genius Sports. That same day, the company revealed a partnership with 888 to power data and trading solutions on the new Sports Illustrated Sportsbook, with a full suite of U.S. sports data including official NBA, NASCAR and NFL sports data feeds.

Moreover, Genius Sports announced it was selected by WynnBET as an Approved Sportsbook Operator of the NFL for the 2021 season, set to provide WynnBET with its exclusive NFL offering, including official data feeds, player acquisition and fan engagement solutions.

Second-quarter revenue more than doubled for the company, as the return of a full slate of sports and growing market share powered its sales: Genius Sports posted revenue of $59 million in Q2. As a result, the company has upgraded its full-year 2021 financial forecasts.

“We continue to significantly expand our leading portfolio of official rights by partnering with sports leagues and federations in key regions across the globe,” said Locke. “Our comprehensive suite of premium content, technology services and fan engagement solutions have strengthened our commercial partnerships.”
