ush Street Gaming announced on Monday that Roy Corby has been named general manager of the upcoming Rivers Casino Portsmouth.

Corby brings more than three decades of casino gaming and operations experience to Hampton Roads. He most recently served as Rivers Casino Pittsburgh’s assistant general manager.

Before joining Rush Street, Corby was senior vice president of operations for Global Gaming Solutions with oversight of three full-service casinos. Previously, Corby was a property leader for Agua Caliente Resort & Casino in Palm Springs, California; Sandia Resort & Casino in Albuquerque, New Mexico; and The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Corby began his casino career as a table games dealer and slot attendant in Atlantic City.

Rivers Casino Portsmouth will anchor the city’s new Entertainment District, revitalizing a vacant 50-acre site on Victory Boulevard. Rivers Casino Portsmouth will feature a full lineup of slots, table games, poker, and BetRivers Sportsbook, along with several new restaurants, a hotel, and conference space.

The casino will bring more than 1,300 new permanent local jobs, approximately 1,400 construction jobs and will generate an estimated $16 million in new annual tax revenue for Portsmouth.

Preliminary site work is already underway at the Entertainment District location. Rivers Casino Portsmouth will open in 2023.
