Digitain announced that the company is gearing up for strong growth in sports betting for the upcoming Winter Olympic Games that will take place in Beijing from February 4 to February 20.
“We’re looking forward to this year’s Winter Olympics which promises to be the busiest yet for betting,” stated Digitain’s Sportsbook Product Manager, Zohrab Karapetyan.

The previous Winter Olympic Games, in South Korea in 2018, generated a record number of bets taken via the Digitain platform, and the trading team expects this year’s Games to easily surpass those numbers, for both bets struck and total stakes accepted across their partner network of over 150 operators.
“We’re anticipating record numbers of our customers playing across our network of partners, and we have an excellent and extended range of betting options for them to choose from,” Karapetyan added.
In a press release, Digitain stated that the three most popular Olympic Sports for betting in 2018 were ice hockey, biathlon, curling. The latter came as a surprise for the company, which is why they decided to bring out new products ready to be transformed into new surprises as well as to improve the overall offer.
“We have also added 8 new winter sports to our betting roster, namely the Bobsleigh, Nordic Combined, the Luge, the Skeleton, Snowboarding, Speed Skating, Short Track speed skating, and Freestyle Skiing, in order to generate more interest. This means, for the first time, and probably unique to our industry, that we will be providing odds on every single Winter Olympic sport,” Karapetyan announced.
The company also recalled that the top Olympic event in 2018 was the men’s ice hockey final, in which Russia defeated Germany. The company expects to break that record as well.
