Spanish land-based and online operator Acrismatic Group has laid the first stone of the new Casino Mediterráneo in the town of Ondara, located in the province of Alicante, in a ceremony attended by local authorities and company officials.

The ceremony, held on Monday, took place in the commercial area of Portal de la Marina, where the fourth casino operated by Acrismatic will be located. In a ceremony, a time capsule symbolizing the first stone of the casino was buried.

The ceremony was attended by the presidents of Acrismatic Group, Jesús Álamo and María Victoria Cristescu; and the general manager of Casino Mediterráneo, Antonio Barajas. The mayor of Ondara, José Ramiro Pastor, was also present and affirmed that the gaming room “will be a good boost for the economic and cultural activity of the area.”

At the ceremony, it was detailed that the budget for the material execution of the project is EUR 2,439,131, more than $2.5 million. Officials added that such investment will contribute to building a gaming area of 805 square meters, out of a total of 1,491.32 square meters being developed.

Representatives pointed out that the casino will have a capacity of 358 customers and workers. At the same time, they highlighted the creation of more than 75 new jobs to cover the different activities of gaming, catering, maintenance, security, and other services. It is expected that the employees will be “from the area” and that they will be people previously trained in a croupiers school which will last three months.

Meanwhile, Antonio Barajas said that “the casino is not only gambling” and emphasized that the venue will have a hotel service “which we want to position as a point of reference in the area”. He added that it is intended to become a cultural meeting point for local artists, who will be able to exhibit their works.

“We want the casino to be a focal point of tourism, offering quality entertainment that complements the tourist offer” of Marina Alta, commented the CEO of Casino Mediterráneo.

At the ceremony, casino officials also indicated that Manuel González Méndez was the architect in charge of the project and, in his presence, the facade of the new casino of Ondara was unveiled, which has similarities with the facades of the three casinos that the Acrismatic Group already has in the towns of Alicante, Benidorm, and Orihuela-Costa.
