The Colombian Ministry of Finance and Public Credit appointed last Friday Roger Carrillo Campo as the new president of Coljuegos.

Through Decree 288 of 2023, Minister José Antonio Ocampo Gaviria signed the appointment of Carillo Campo, who is an economist from the Autonomous University of Colombia and a specialist in Systematized Financial Management from the Free University of Colombia.

The new head of the Colombian regulatory entity had been working as Head of the Planning Advisory Office of Coljuegos and will take up the new position immediately. It is worth mentioning that in December 2022, César Augusto Valencia stepped down as head of the entity, at which time the name of the new president had already been suggested for the position, as reported by Yogonet.

In fact, Carrillo Campo was mentioned in November as a candidate to take the position when the government published the resumes of aspiring directors. But at the beginning of 2023, the appointment was blocked amid a political scandal due to the impersonation of one of his opponents: Carrillo Campo allegedly impersonated Roberto Perez to speak ill of the current government, and thus eliminate the possibility that the Ministry of Finance would choose the latter for the position. Now, all that seems to be in the past, and the confirmation of the new president of the regulatory entity is official.

Meanwhile, the former head of Coljuegos left his position, announcing historical results in his management regarding the tax collection of games of chance in Colombian territory, and it is said that the Qatar 2022 World Cup would have been one of the main reasons for this record.
