Caesars has now opened its temporary Danville, Virginia casino. The property opened its doors on Monday, following a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The transitory venue is set to operate until the launch of the permanent Caesars Virginia, scheduled to debut in late 2024. The temporary casino opened at 10.00 am with eager attendees trying out their luck and seeing the new venue for themselves. As per reports, the temporary casino is likely to bring in $12.1 million in additional revenue, and the full casino is projected to bring in more than $39 million in revenue.

The 40,000-square-foot temporary casino includes 740 slot machines, eight sports betting kiosks, 25 live table games, including blackjack, roulette and baccarat, 28 electronic table games of blackjack, roulette and craps, and a quick-service restaurant, Three Stacks.

Alonzo Jones, Mayor of Danville, said: “Danville is really excited. Our phones have been blowing off the hook. People from all over the Carolinas, all over the state of Virginia. Caesars have done everything they said they were going to do for the City of Danville.”

Sports betting kiosks at the temporary casino

The temporary location is located on the corner of Bishop and Main in Danville. This corner was home to Dan River Mill for decades. The games inside the temporary casino are all brand new and will eventually be moved into the permanent resort, once construction is complete.  

The temporary casino is also likely to be advantageous to locals. Elaborating more on how the casino will benefit the city, Delegate Daniel Marshall, said: “Monday, May the 15th of 2023 is going to be one of those dates that will be remembered as a turning point in history in Danville. 1,350 jobs for our citizens at above the prevailing wage. Investments of $650 million.”

Barron Fuller, Caesars Entertainment Regional President, said: “Thank you to everybody in the crowd that voted in favor of having gambling in Danville itself. You made the right choice by choosing Caesars Entertainment and we will not let you down in that choice.”

Caesars’ permanent casino will open in late 2024

Meanwhile, the work for Caesars Virginia’s permanent restaurant is currently underway, after ground was broken in Danville on August 12, 2022. Construction is set to be completed within two years, with a grand opening expected in late 2024. 

The permanent property will include a casino, hotel and entertainment center. The full casino will feature 1,300 slot machines, 85 table games, a poker room and a sportsbook. The hotel will have 500 guest rooms with meeting rooms and a conference center, while the entertainment center is expected to have a 2,500-seat capacity.
