Italian gambling company Sisal has appointed Sian Carson as its new Chief People Officer. Carson, the former Chief People Officer, Group Functions at Sisal’s parent Flutter Entertainment, will lead Sisal’s human resources and organizational design division in support of the business’ expansion in Italy and abroad.

“I am very happy about Sian joining the company’s leadership team,” commented Sisal CEO Francesco Durante. “I am convinced that with her support we will further strengthen our ability to drive Sisal’s growth in Italy and abroad, investing in the centrality of people and skills that are fundamental for an increasingly sustainable, digital and international company.”

Sian, a graduate of Humanities and Economics from the University of Melbourne, began her career in Italy in the financial sector, covering multiple HR roles at UniCredit Group. In 2013, she joined the Flutter Group, following an international path first in Australia, in the Sportsbet division.

She later moved to London, taking on increasing responsibilities in various divisions of Paddy Power, Betfair, Flutter International, and most recently, as Chief People Officer Group Functions, where she was tasked with defining talent development strategies and strengthening an inclusive culture in support of corporate objectives.

I am proud to take on the role of Chief People Officer at Sisal. I am delighted to enthusiastically welcome this new professional challenge in a group that employs more than 3 thousand people in 5 different countries and with an ambition of continuous growth in the near future, strong in its strategy that has always put people at the center,” said Sian Carson.

Sisal’s multinational profile will give us the opportunity to work on issues of diversity and inclusion in all its aspects, with the goal of becoming a leading company in these issues.”

Flutter acquired Sisal in December 2021 from CVC Capital Partners Fund VI for €1.91 billion ($2.03 billion), with the merger finalized almost one year later, in August 2022. In addition to operating the Italian national lottery, Sisal has secured positions in several other gaming verticals in the country.

It has also expanded its presence beyond the domestic market, operating internationally in Morocco, Turkey, Albania and Tunisia, with an offering that includes lotteries, betting, online games and amusement machines. The company operates in the retail channel through a network of more than 49,000 points of sale; and online with about 1 million consumers.
