Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has announced the appointment of Matthew Saxon as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for Platform & Sportsbook. The appointment comes as GiG continues to strengthen its senior executive team under Platform and Sportsbook CEO Richard Carter.

With a 30-year tenure across iGaming and financial sectors, in a resume that includes executive positions at Sportradar and PWC, Saxon brings deep technical experience and commercial acumen to the role of CTO, the company added.

Further, with a background in delivering “scalable, innovative and agile tech solutions”, Saxon has been a key figure in developing architecture across platform, sportsbook and AI-driven tools, performing a major role in several products and services.

The latest in a string of high-profile arrivals at GiG, Saxon will help to drive forward the technical vision for the business, overseeing the engineering strategy and architecture at GiG Platform & Sportsbook.

He will be responsible for the ongoing development of GiG’s full suite of solutions and features, including all engineering and infrastructure, platform migrations and its GiG Data and GiG Logic tools.

The company stated Saxon’s strategic appointment will help to accelerate GiG’s plans for production-focused growth, as the business continues to invest “heavily” in its product and technological capabilities.

GiG’s feature-lead AI stack currently powers over 60 brands in some of the most complex markets worldwide and, according to the company, has been gathering “considerable praise” from across the industry.

This momentum is reinforced by its headline ‘Full service platform’ and ‘Multi-channel supplier’ successes at the 2023 EGR global B2B awards earlier this year, the company noted.

Richard Carter, CEO for Platform & Sportsbook at GiG, said: “Matt’s appointment is a significant step towards helping us reach the high bar we have set for the business.

We are continuing a process of bringing together the strongest leadership in sports betting and iGaming and I am confident that his arrival will help further fuel our strategic plans, establishing us as a leader in technological advancement and commerciality across the iGaming industry”

Matt Saxon, Chief Technology Officer at GiG, commented: “I am excited to be joining GiG and leading their technology team at the start of what promises to be an extremely impressive growth phase.

The foundations that are in place are an amazing springboard to help us accelerate our partners’ businesses and I’m looking forward to helping GiG bring these great capabilities to them, both new and existing.”
