During November, gaming revenues from Virginia casinos totaled $51.2 million, as per the monthly report on casino gaming activity released by The Virginia Lottery.
Virginia law assesses a graduated tax on a casino’s adjusted gaming revenue (AGR), or wagers minus winnings, and $10.3 million in taxes were paid to the Gaming Proceeds Fund. The three operating casinos in Virginia are Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol, Rivers Casino Portsmouth, and Caesars Virginia.
In HR Bristol, a total of 908 slot machines generated AGR amounting to $10.15 million, while 29 table games contributed an AGR of $1.95 million. The combined AGR for the gaming establishment, encompassing slots and table games, reached $12.10 million across 937 gaming options.
At Rivers Casino Portsmouth, a total of 1,416 slot machines generated an AGR of $14.66 million, complemented by 81 table games contributing an AGR of $6.94 million. The combined AGR for the casino, encompassing both slots and table games, reached $21.60 million across 1,497 gaming options.
Lastly, Caesars Virginia witnessed 830 slot machines generating an AGR of $12.81 million, while 33 table games contributed an AGR of $4.69 million. The combined AGR for the casino, covering both slots and table games, amounted to $17.50 million across 863 gaming options.
Across the three casinos, $37.62 million was generated from slots, and $13.58 million from table games, resulting in a total AGR of $51.20 million.
In November, tax collections amounted to $10.30 million, with Bristol contributing $2.18 million, Rivers Casino Portsmouth $4.97 million, and Caesars Virginia $3.15 million.
The Virginia Lottery Board approved the casino license for HR Bristol in April 2022, and the temporary facility on the site of the former Bristol Mall opened to the public on 8 July 2022.
The casino license for Rivers Casino Portsmouth was greenlighted in November 2022 and the casino opened to the public on 23 January 2023, while Caesars Virginia received its casino license in April 2023 and the temporary facility in Danville was opened to the public on 15 May 2023.
