Bacta‘s National Council has agreed to the promotion of Robert Gibb to the role of Executive Director – Commercial, in another move as part of the UK association’s reorganisation process.

This new role includes Gibb’s previous responsibilities. He has been Bacta’s Head of Finance and Operations for the past eight years and he will now take on the lead for delivering services to Bacta members and overseeing the work of Bacta’s team of Membership Support Officers (MSOs).

This move follows the appointment of George McGregor as Executive Director – Government Relations, Regulatory Affairs and Communications, announced in January.

John Bollom, Bacta President, said: “I would heartily congratulate Rob on his promotion as Executive Director – Commercial. He has done an outstanding job for Bacta in recent years in overseeing our organisation and finances. National Council is confident he will drive forward continued enhancements in the services we provide to members.”

Robert Gibb, Bacta’s new Executive Director – Commercial, said: “I am excited to be taking on this new role and look forward to working with Bacta’s outstanding team of MSOs to continue to raise the support we provide.”

Back in December, and as part of its year-end special, Yogonet held an exclusive interview with Bollom in which he discussed the opportunities the UK gambling reform will provide to the association’s members, in addition to offering insights on Bacta’s roadmap for 2024.

“2023 has been an important year not least because the UK Government, after much delay, published its proposals to reform Britain’s gambling landscape,” Bollom said. “These proposals, which enjoy widespread support across the political divide, will, when implemented, make a very significant contribution to the growth of the sector.”
