The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency (MLGCA) has released sports betting figures for February. The state’s 13 retail and 12 mobile sportsbooks generated a handle of $442.6 million, up by 30.4% year-on-year. However, the figure was 18.8% behind the $545 million handle from January. While $428.2 million was spent online, $13.4 million was spent at retail sportsbooks.

The taxable win came to $28.1 million, 51.2% ahead of February 2023. However, it was 48.9% short of January’s $55 million. Of this amount, $942,233 was attributed to retail sports betting and $27.1 million to mobile sports betting. Sportsbooks paid a total of $4.1 million in contributions to the state, a 50.5% year-on-year increase.

Maryland’s fiscal year runs from July 1st through June 30th, based on which sports wagering data is tracked and reported. In the first eight months of Fiscal Year 2024 (July 2023 through February 2024), sports wagering has contributed $37 million to the state.

Sports wagering contributions go to the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund, which supports public education programs. A detailed summary of the February 2024 results, including handle, hold percentage, prizes paid, promotional play, taxable win, and contribution to the state, along with a summary of statewide handle and hold by sport is available for download at the regulator’s website.
