The National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) has received the honor of being named as #1 Top 10 “Best Places to Work in the Federal Government” among small agencies by the Partnership for Public Service in collaboration with the Boston Consulting Group.
The ranking was based on the results of the 2023 Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS). The 2024 FEVS will be released May 20, 2024.
“We are so proud and excited to be recognized in this way! Thank you for acknowledging the work our Agency leaders have put into ensuring NIGC employees are satisfied,” said NIGC Acting Chair Sharon M. Avery.
“Our Agency consists of people who are deeply committed to upholding the Agency’s mission and goals. We plan to continue to foster a collaborative environment where everyone feels valued and motivated to support the tribal gaming operations that benefit our Native communities.”
Established in 1988, the NIGC plays a vital role in supporting tribal economic development, self-sufficiency and strong tribal governments through the regulation of gaming activities on Indian lands. Together with tribes and states, the commission regulates over 500 gaming establishments operated by nearly 250 tribes across 29 states.
In March, US Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland announced her selection for two key positions within the NIGC, proposing the appointments of Sharon Avery and Jeannie Hovland as associate commissioners.
