Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo has appointed civil litigator Richard Schonfeld to the Nevada Gaming Commission, with his term starting April 28. Schonfeld replaces Rosa Solis-Rainey, whose term has expired.

A longtime Nevada attorney, Schonfeld has practiced law in the state for more than 27 years and is a partner at Chesnoff & Schonfeld. He earned his law degree in 1998 and was admitted to the Nevada Bar that same year.

Throughout his career, he has served as outside corporate litigation counsel to a wide range of Las Vegas-based businesses, including entertainment companies, industrial firms, and restaurant management groups.

Schonfeld is widely recognized for his work in complex legal matters and trial litigation, with court appearances in more than 18 states. His legal credentials include admissions to multiple federal courts, several United States Courts of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

“Richard Schonfeld brings decades of legal experience and a strong understanding of Nevada’s business community to this role,” said Lombardo. “He will be a valuable addition to the Nevada Gaming Commission as it continues its important work safeguarding the integrity of our gaming industry.”

The Nevada Gaming Commission serves a key regulatory function in the state’s gaming sector, overseeing final decisions on licensing, enforcement, and disciplinary actions.

Schonfeld expressed gratitude for the appointment and emphasized his commitment to public service. “Nevada has given so much to me, my wife Gina, and our children, and it means a great deal to have the opportunity to give back to this state,” he said. “I look forward to contributing to the Commission’s important work in maintaining the integrity of this vital industry.”
