Sycuan Casino Resort has partnered with Hyak Motorsports for the inaugural NASCAR San Diego Weekend, giving the tribal gaming operator exposure during one of the season’s most anticipated Cup Series events.

Under the agreement, the casino resort will serve as the primary sponsor of the No. 47 Chevrolet driven by Ricky Stenhouse Jr. during the inaugural race weekend on Sunday, June 21.

The NASCAR event will take place on the streets surrounding Naval Base Coronado during celebrations connected to the 250th anniversary of the United States.

“We’re proud to partner with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and participate in the inaugural NASCAR weekend in San Diego,” said Chairman Cody Martinez. “Together we’re bringing a Sycuan race car to the track, creating an exciting opportunity to connect with our team members, guests, racing fans and the San Diego community.”

Hyak Motorsports said the No. 47 Sycuan Casino Resort Chevrolet will debut a new livery during the San Diego NASCAR Cup Series event.

“We’re excited to welcome Sycuan Casino Resort to the Hyak Motorsports family for the inaugural San Diego race,” said Stenhouse. “Having a partner with such a strong connection to the San Diego community makes this weekend even more special, especially as the city celebrates the 250th anniversary of the United States.”

Racing on Naval Base Coronado is going to be a unique experience for everyone, and I’m looking forward to representing Sycuan Casino Resort on and off the track in front of a great crowd,” he added.

Located in El Cajon, California, Sycuan Casino Resort is owned by the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation. The property began operations as a bingo hall before developing into a casino resort and entertainment venue in the San Diego area.

The partnership was arranged with support from Meridien Sports, a sports marketing, entertainment, and brand agency based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
