PENN Entertainment has launched its theScore Bet Sportsbook & Casino app in Alberta alongside standalone theScore Casino and Hollywood Casino apps, expanding its online gaming presence in Canada as the province opens its regulated market to private operators.

The launch extends theScore Bet’s Canadian footprint beyond Ontario and brings PENN’s sportsbook and online casino offerings to players in Alberta. The brands are available across the province on iOS, Android and the web.

The theScore Bet Sportsbook & Casino app combines sports betting with sports media content from theScore, allowing users to access live scores, news, statistics and betting through a single platform.

In addition to sports wagering, the app offers hundreds of online casino games, including slot machines, table games, live dealer titles and exclusive games such as Blue Jays Blackjack.

PENN also launched standalone Hollywood Casino and theScore Casino apps for players seeking dedicated online casino experiences. Hollywood Casino offers slots, table games and live dealer content, while theScore Casino provides a similar casino experience to the one available through the all-in-one theScore Bet Sportsbook & Casino app.

“Alberta has an incredible sports culture, and we’re excited to bring theScore Bet Sportsbook & Casino to players across the province,” said Aaron LaBerge, Chief Technology Officer and Head of Interactive at PENN Entertainment. “Fans already know and trust theScore, and with theScore Bet, we’re extending that connection into a seamless sportsbook and casino experience.

“Whether you’re following your favorite team, placing a bet, or enjoying casino games, we’ve built the experience around the way fans naturally engage with sports. We commend the Alberta government for introducing a regulated online gaming market for private operators and look forward to serving fans in one of Canada’s great sports markets.”

TheScore Bet is the exclusive official gaming partner of Major League Baseball’s Toronto Blue Jays, the exclusive gaming partner of Golf Canada, and an official gaming partner of the National Hockey League and the PGA Tour.

To mark the launch, theScore Bet will introduce a series of fan engagement events throughout the summer, including its Toronto Blue Jays Jersey Swap promotion.

Alberta opened its regulated commercial iGaming market at midnight on Monday, July 13, becoming the second Canadian province after Ontario to permit private online sports betting and casino operators under provincial oversight.

Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) has registered 50 operators, 58 critical gaming systems providers and 14 platform providers. More than 15 operators were expected to launch on opening day alongside the government-owned Play Alberta platform, while others will enter later after completing commercial agreements with the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC).

In addition to theScore Bet, the registered field includes brands such as FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, BetRivers, Caesars, bet365, PointsBet, Betway, 888,, Hollywood Casino, Bally’s, Pure Casino Entertainment and River Cree iGaming.
