Limerick and Galway face off in the 2026 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final on Sunday at Croke Park, with the Liam MacCarthy Cup on the line.

Limerick are aiming to reclaim the title after winning five All-Ireland championships in six seasons through 2023. Galway return to the final for the first time since 2018, when they lost to Limerick in the decider.

Both finalists earned their places through demanding semi-final victories. Galway produced one of the shocks of the championship by defeating a heavily favoured Cork side, limiting the Rebels’ attacking threat after half-time. Limerick followed with a dramatic comeback against Clare, overturning a six-point half-time deficit to secure victory in one of the season’s most memorable matches.

The championship has also seen significant changes among hurling’s traditional powers. Defending champions Tipperary failed to emerge from the Munster Championship, while Kilkenny, the most successful county in All-Ireland history, exited the competition earlier than expected, extending their longest title drought.

For much of the sport’s history, the All-Ireland Championship has been dominated by a small group of counties. Sunday’s final will determine whether Limerick can reassert that dominance or whether Galway will bring the Liam MacCarthy Cup back west for the first time since 2017.

Croke Park will once again host the championship decider, continuing a tradition spanning more than a century. With a capacity of more than 82,000, the stadium is expected to be at full attendance for the amateur sport’s biggest occasion, as players return to their everyday professions following the championship.

Throw-in is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Ahead of the final, betting operator Tonybet is offering a promotional €10 (US$11.44) free bet through its deposit bonus. Customers who deposit €20 (US$22.88) or more between midday on Sunday, 19 July, and 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, 22 July, can claim the free bet.

The offer is valid for two days and is subject to a five-times wagering requirement, with minimum odds of 1.5 for single bets and 1.7 for multiple bets. Full terms and conditions apply.

A Limerick victory would restore the county as All-Ireland champions after a two-year gap. A Galway win would secure their first title since 2017 and end an eight-year wait for championship success.
