Caesars Sportsbook will pay a $251,250 fine and forfeit $45,465 in profits to settle responsible gambling violations in New Jersey.
The settlement with the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) covers several compliance failures involving responsible gambling signage and self-exclusion procedures.
The DGE said Caesars used signage that did not include the required responsible gambling language. New Jersey rules require signage to feature “Bet With Your Head, Not Over It,” or similar wording, along with the 1-800-GAMBLER helpline number.
The regulator also alleged that Caesars failed to provide the DGE with its daily self-exclusion list.
Caesars additionally offered a permanent self-exclusion option through its platform, despite New Jersey rules requiring players to appear in person to request a lifetime self-exclusion.
The settlement also covered allegations that self-excluded patrons were allowed to place wagers through other platforms.
Alongside the $251,250 fine, Caesars agreed to disgorge $45,465 in profits.
The DGE warned that further violations could result in additional disciplinary action, including for minor infractions.
The settlement highlights the importance of compliance with New Jersey’s responsible gambling requirements, including consumer-facing disclosures, self-exclusion procedures and reporting obligations.
