Ontario’s regulated iGaming market set new monthly records in July 2026, as Ontarians wagered CAD 9.88 billion (US$7.1 billion) over 31 days in July. The figure was nearly CAD 300 million above the previous record of CAD 9.59 billion set in March, according to iGaming Ontario (iGO).
The figure was also 31% higher than July 2025 and marked the highest monthly wagering total since Ontario launched its regulated iGaming market in April 2022.
Operators generated CAD 413.6 million (US$297.1 million) in gross gaming revenue (GGR) in July, the second-highest monthly total on record. The figure was behind only the CAD 426 million recorded in December 2025 and was 33% higher year over year.
Ontario’s 20% tax rate on operators’ revenue generated approximately CAD 83 million in tax revenue for the province in July. During the first seven months of 2026, Ontario collected around CAD 553 million in tax revenue from CAD 2.76 billion in total non-adjusted GGR.
Monthly active player accounts also reached a record, approaching 1.37 million. That was 44% higher than the 948,000 active accounts recorded in July 2025 and 3.5% above June 2026.
Ontario’s commercial iGaming market had 48 licensed operators across 83 sites during the month.
The market also saw the arrival of two major brands. DAZN Bet launched in Ontario on June 30, while Hard Rock Bet entered the province with its sportsbook and casino on July 22.
Despite the increase in active accounts, average revenue per account fell 7.6% year over year to CAD 303, the lowest level since February 2026, when it was CAD 262.
Online casino continued to dominate Ontario’s iGaming market, accounting for the majority of both wagering and revenue. iCasino wagers reached a record CAD 8.78 billion, up 30% from July 2025 and surpassing the previous high of CAD 8.37 billion set in May. Casino wagering represented 89% of total July handle.
Online casino GGR also reached a record CAD 330.4 million, rising 31% year over year and exceeding May’s previous record. Casino revenue accounted for 80% of total GGR in July.
Sports betting generated CAD 992 million in wagers, falling below $1 billion during the typical summer slowdown. However, wagering was still 44% higher than July 2025, when there was no FIFA World Cup action.
June’s stronger sports betting activity was likely supported by the early stages of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including Canada’s first four matches. Canada exited the tournament after a 3-0 defeat to Morocco in the round of 16 on July 4.
Sports betting GGR reached CAD77.8 million, up 47% year over year but down to its lowest monthly level since March 2026. Sports wagering accounted for 10% of total handle and 19% of operators’ GGR.
Peer-to-peer poker remained a small part of Ontario’s regulated market, accounting for about 1% of total handle and GGR. Both poker wagering and revenue declined by more than 10% year over year.
iGO’s figures exclude activity on the government-owned Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) platform, which reports its results separately on an annual basis.
