Entain will leave the FTSE 100 this month after a sharp fall in its market capitalisation, ending the Ladbrokes owner’s six-year stint on London’s benchmark share index.

FTSE Russell confirmed that Entain and housebuilder Persimmon will be removed from the FTSE 100 at the close of play on Sept. 18 and join the FTSE 250 on Sept. 21. Oil and gas company Ithaca Energy and low-cost airline EasyJet will replace them.

Entain joined the FTSE 100 in June 2020. Its shares rose from around £7.60 to £18 within a year and peaked at £21.56 in October 2021. The stock now stands at £5.23, down more than 75% from its peak.

The company’s market capitalisation has fallen to £3.31 million ($4.47 million), the lowest on the FTSE 100.

At the end of July, BetMGM, jointly owned by Entain and MGM Resorts International, said it expected full-year net revenue and adjusted EBITDA at the lower end of its guidance ranges, triggering another decline in Entain’s share price.

The FTSE 100 exit comes despite Entain beating expectations in the first half. Net gaming revenue rose 5% on a constant-currency basis to £2.55 billion, supported by strong engagement during the early stages of the 2026 World Cup.

Chief Financial Officer Michael Snape said the company was gaining market share as mid-tier operators struggled to absorb the impact of the increase in UK Remote Gaming Duty from 21% to 40%.
