Aristocrat has granted Ainsworth Game Technology a royalty-bearing licence to its game play patents in Australia. The licence includes the Hold & Spin patent family, one of Aristocrat’s most recognized game mechanics.
The arrangement, entered into by Aristocrat Technologies Australia Pty Limited and Aristocrat Technologies, Inc., gives Ainsworth Game Technology Limited access to the Hold & Spin family and other game play patents for use in the Australian market. Aristocrat did not disclose the financial terms of the licence, saying the commercial conditions remain confidential to the two parties.
Alongside the game play licence, Aristocrat granted Ainsworth a separate, royalty-free licence covering its responsible gaming patents. This portfolio includes technology for safer play, digital wallet and account-based play, configurable player limits, self-exclusion and activity-based tools, and player messaging, including AI-enabled approaches.
Aristocrat said the no-cost terms are intended to put responsible gaming innovations within reach of the wider industry.
