The licence permits Hommerson Amusement to offer online games of chances to the Dutch regulated igaming market.

It is not yet clear which brand Hommerson Amusement will use to operate igaming in the country. When this is confirmed, details will be published in the Dutch “Kansspelwijzer” gambling guide.

The licence marks the 27th to be issued for the country’s regulated online gambling market, which launched in October 2021.

Other recent approvals include LeoVegas Group, which revealed plans to relaunch igaming in the Netherlands in July. Malta-based SCGO Limited also picked up an online gambling licence in the country earlier this year.

Dutch regulator clamping down on cashback bonuses

Last month, KSA launched a market-wide investigation into prohibited cashback bonuses. This comes after being alerted to an operator promoting such offers to players.

KSA in November 2022 ordered Dutch igaming licensees to stop offering cashback bonuses. It said these bonuses are covered by advertising laws and therefore may not encourage “excessive” gambling.

Cashback offers allow customers to recoup some of their losses if their bet or wager does not win.

nationwide ban on untargeted gambling advertising came into effect from 1 July. All television and radio adverts, as well as ads in public spaces, are now banned. Advertising on the internet and television on demand is allowed under strict conditions.
