ccording to data released on Wednesday, Cyprus Casinos, operated by Melco Cyprus, recorded total bets of €137 million (USD $161 million) in just one and a half months, and despite the restrictive measures that are still in effect due to the pandemic. The casino also announced that this amount only concerns gaming machine handle bets.

For the year’s second quarter, which ended on June 30, 2021, total bets recorded on gaming machines amounted to €137.1 million (USD $161.3 million) compared to €48.7 million (USD $57.3 million) collected in the same period last year.

In the second quarter of 2021, the profit margin on gaming machines was 4.9%, compared to 5.2% in the second quarter of 2020.

Cyprus Casinos currently has around 700 employees across its four satellite and temporary casinos in Limassol, however, it expects to employ another 2,500 people once the company’s €550 million (USD $647 million) City of Dreams Mediterranean development opens in late 2022, reports Philenews.
