evada’s casinos reported the continuity of its upward revenue trend in September, surpassing a $1 billion gaming win for the seventh straight month.

Casinos statewide posted a win revenue of $1.16 billion last month, according to the new figures released Wednesday by the Nevada Gaming Control Board. These numbers account for a rise of 41% in an year-over-year comparison, when the statewide revenues were nearly $820.98 million.

Clark County casinos alone had a $1 billion gaming win last month. On the Las Vegas Strip, casinos got $640.6 million, more than 80% compared to September 2020.

Those win totals are also up compared to September 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic hit the U.S. Casinos statewide had win revenues of $1.06 billion that month, including $913.6 million in Clark County and $584.2 million on the Strip.

The state is currently on its second-longest streak of $1 billion monthly casino winnings, the first one having taken place from November 2006 to May 2007 before the Great Recession began. September numbers followed a record nearly $1.4 billion statewide in July and $1.2 billion in August.

Strong demand across markets, the continued rebound of leisure travel and the return of special events and entertainment continued to propel gaming win past 2019 levels,” board Senior Analyst Michael Lawton said, as reported by the Associated Press. He added that for the calendar year, results are now 8% above 2019.

In addition, sports betting set a record for Nevada, with $786.5 million worth of wagers placed and $54.2 million in winnings reaped by sports books statewide. Lawton said 63% of sports bets were placed through mobile apps.

This month, the state has collected more than $72 million in percentage fees from taxable revenue generated in September. So far, game wins have increased 58% for the fiscal year.
