888AFRICA, one of 888 Holdings‘s joint ventures, has forged a partnership in the African nation of Angola. Teaming up with NE Group, an online gambling software supplier, 888AFRICA is set to introduce 888bets to the Angolan market, along with the Aviator crash game.

In a statement regarding the partnership, 888AFRICA said: “As a country with huge potential, we expect big things from our launch in Angola. Working with NE Group has enabled us to deliver an experience that sports bettors will love and that is enriched with engaging products.”

NE Group’s CEO, Imran Bukhari, stated: “It’s brilliant to see the 888bets sportsbook launch in Angola to bring sports betting fans an experience they deserve. Our specialized sports betting platform and lightweight frontend solution for Africa allows 888bets to quickly scale.

This strategic move by 888AFRICA comes on the heels of its acquisition of BetLion, an online betting operator in Kenya, solidifying its expansion plans in the African gambling market.

Meanwhile, 888 Holdings, has reported its financial performance for the first quarter, surpassing revenue expectations with £431 million ($535.8 million) in revenue. Notably, international markets witnessed a 6% increase in online gambling revenue.

Despite a marginal 1% decline in total revenue in the UK and Ireland, 888 Holdings experienced a 4% rise in gaming revenue, offsetting the downturn in sports betting revenue. The company remains optimistic about the UK online revenue, anticipating a return to year-on-year growth starting from the second quarter.

However, challenges persist in the retail sector, with revenue from William Hill retail operations declining by 7% amid a reduction in the number of shops by 2%.
